I Don’t Want To

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Hi, friends!

Yes, I know the title sounds whiny. That’s because I feel kind of whiny today. If you aren’t up to it, bail now. I understand.

I don’t want to wake up. I don’t want ride my bicycle when it’s 38 degrees outside. I don’t want to write. I don’t want to work. I don’t want to make breakfast. I don’t want to eat.

Whew. I needed to get that out. Thank you for sticking around. I keep wondering what I really want to do, and I honestly don’t know. Maybe I just want to complain. I’m ready for it to be 6:00 so the work week is done. It hasn’t been a good one (which I’ll explain on Monday or on Twitter tonight if you don’t want to wait). I’m just anxious for it to be over.

So…how many layers of clothing do I need to ride my bicycle when it’s 38 degrees anyway? I know when I run, I dress for it to be 20 degrees warmer than it is. However, riding creates a whole wind chill thing that is much worse than running. (In my dreams, I can run fast enough to have that problem though!)

I’m going to put on about half my closet and see how it goes. Wish me luck!

365 Floors To 2000!

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Hi, friends!

Remember yesterday when I thought I’d do a workout last night? LOL. I’m such an overachiever sometimes.

I did 163 floors in 30 minutes last night followed by 15 minutes on the treadmill. Then I got up this morning and did 169 floors in 30 minutes and another 15 minutes on the treadmill. I feel pretty awesome about that.

I’ve realized lately that my post-climb treadmill time is getting more and more intense. I used to just walk at about 3.0 with a 2.5-5.0 incline. The last couple weeks, I’ve been starting there, but after about a minute, I’m running. I never thought I’d enjoy climbing stairs then running right afterwards, but it feels really good. I ran with a 5.0 incline last night though, and this morning, my right knee wasn’t about to let me do it again. It didn’t hurt climbing, but as soon as I kicked up the incline running, it said stop. So I did. I ran with no incline and no pain. Hooray!

I need 365 floors and 20.21 miles to meet my October goals. If I weren’t running a 5K Saturday morning, I’d be absolutely certain to meet both of those. However, I am running a 5K Saturday morning. My plan is a slow bike ride tomorrow just to get out and enjoy being outside, the run Saturday morning, stairs at the gym Saturday afternoon and more stairs at the gym Sunday morning. It will take about 65 minutes total to do the 365 floors. (WOW! I’m roughly an hour away from 2000 floors in October!) I could do all 365 in one workout, but I’m not sure I want to. That just sounds like a lot to ask my legs after they run. If I feel awesome, I’ll do it though and take Sunday off. Off sounds so yummy right now! :-)

I’m very much looking forward to getting home tonight. This week has been a lot to take in, and I really can’t wait until next week when I can explain why. Ugh.

Hope your Thursday rocks!

Staying Awake

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Hi, friends!

How is your Wednesday morning? Mine is iffy. There’s stuff going on I can’t share yet, and I’m struggling with that. I’m such an open person. Keeping things to myself just feels unnatural. Sigh.

I did get some exercise last night, but it wasn’t the workout I was thinking I’d do. It fell more into the strenuous housework category. I also did some running in place in front of the TV during the first half of Biggest Loser. I’ll be glad when this week is behind me. It’s been weird at best.

I did get a wonderful visit from my honey last night. I heart when he drives up after work and stays with me. It seems silly to drive so far (Indy to Chicago) just to sleep next to me, but I’m so lucky he likes to do that. There’s just something wonderful and comforting about it. However, it means we’re both fighting to stay awake at our desks today because he had to leave around 5:00 to get back to Indy for work. :-)

Hope you’re staying awake at work today too! Have an awesome today!
