Happy 4th!

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Hi, friends!

A very happy, belated 4th of July to you!

I don’t know about you, but our weekend was FULL! We started Friday evening with babysitting. I can’t even describe how wonderful it is to watch our grandbaby. She is just the cutest little creature! It’s amazing how easily you forget how much work it is!! She did great this weekend though. We actually slept five whole hours in a row!!

And woke up super happy!

We went to the Carmel Farmer’s Market Saturday morning and picked up steaks and vegetables (which were DELICIOUS Sunday night for dinner). Tom was good enough to go solo babysitting for a little while so I could run 6 miles. Then my dad, step-mom, aunt and brother came up around noon to visit. We had a really nice lunch and walked around downtown Carmel for a while. Claire tried super hard to suck her thumb.

She’s almost got it!

It was difficult, but we gave her back to her mommie about 5:30 Saturday evening. We got a quick bite to eat and went to see Transformers 3. OMGOSH! I LOVED IT!!! I know it makes a big difference that we watched a lot of the filming, but it was so cool! I can’t believe how real they made all that debris we saw lying around Chicago look. It was completely awesome.

Sunday we hopped on our bikes and rode to downtown Indy. It was 16.68 miles to get there. We had lunch then started exploring some. We found a nifty little trail behind the zoo. It was beautiful, and on the other side, we had this great view of downtown.

It was a beautiful day…really hot though. The ride around downtown and then back home was just over 20 miles. That was my first 20-mile ride ever! All in all, we did about 37 miles. Sunday evening Tom made the dinner we bought at the Farmer’s Market, and we watched part of a movie. We didn’t make it to the end though; we were too sleepy.

Monday we walked through Carmelfest then went out for a drive. It was another really nice day. We had lunch and just goofed off together. We watched the Carmel fireworks Monday night from our front steps and talked to Tom’s family on the phone. It was a really great, relaxing weekend. :)

How was your holiday?

Merry December!

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Hi, friends!

I finally found a minute to write! Wow, my life has been crazy lately.

I survived the super short trip to the west coast. I’m happy that’s not a long-term project for me right now. It took 12 hours of travel each way. That’s a lot. After the long trip home Thursday night, I flew to Chicago Friday morning to work one day at my former client. I flew home after work Friday and was really never so happy to just be home.

I planned to run on Saturday, but I was worn out and suffering from a massive headache. I spent the whole day on the couch watching TV and being grumpy. Honestly, the headache still hasn’t completely gone away, but it’s not bad enough that I’m still on the couch either.

So Sunday I went for my longest run yet: 6.22 miles! It took me 1:13 (wow, I need to work on that…sigh). It snowed Saturday so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they clean the Monon trail pretty well. It was cold but beautiful.

It snowed a little while I was running, but mostly I got snowed on when the wind hit the trees. :-)

Honey and his 10-year-old son did a whole bunch of decorating Saturday while I was laying on the couch. The apartment is beautiful and festive. They saved putting the icicles on the tree for me to do Sunday when I felt better.

Then Sunday night I flew back to Chicago for (hopefully) one last week at this client. The best part of being in Chicago though is definitely seeing the Sears Tower. I just look at it and smile knowing honey and I climbed up there together. It was so hard, but it was also just awesome. I super loved seeing the spires lit up red and green last night.

Sears Tower Christmas

Yeah, they’re hard to see so you’ll just have to trust me on that one. It’s pretty magical. :-)

Merry December, friends!

Holy Moly!

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Has it really been almost 2 weeks?! How did that happen?!

I knew it would be difficult getting work, exercise and blogging all in while I was in Pennsylvania. I didn’t really just how difficult though! I am so proud of me for not skipping a single workout while I was there. Yay! I had plenty of room for excuses too because it wasn’t possible to run outside. I so hate running on the treadmill, but I did it. I also used the elliptical for the first time in forever. Go me!

When I got home, I got SICK. I think it was some sort of stomach flu. It was really awful, but I’ll spare you the gory details. I’m so thankful it only lasted a day and that it was over before my favorite day of the whole year: Thanksgiving!

Honey and I spent Thanksgiving with my family. Honey went last year so he was prepared for the spectacle of my family’s tradition, but his son was new to the event this year. :-) Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it’s the only time all year I see a WHOLE BUNCH of my family members. This year, we had about 120 people. I never heard the final count, just that is was in the 120s. It was so wonderful! I was busy chatting and playing so I didn’t get many pics. :(

I did get this great one of my beautiful daughter!

That’s her honey napping behind her…lol.

We all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We got to celebrate my youngest niece’s 3rd birthday Friday! (The birthday girl is on the left. It was all my other 3-year-old niece would do to wait for that pretty pink cake though…LOL)

Me, yet another niece (I have 7!) and my Daddy!

The toy of the night was cute little pink pig ears…

Before heading home Saturday, we had a little family gathering for lunch. There were about 40 people, I think. :-) It was so much fun, and my lap was the spot for nieces wanting to color.

That’s 3 adorable nieces balancing on my lap to color. It was quite a workout!

Speaking of workouts, I didn’t miss a one all weekend! Aside from the one day I was VERY sick, I haven’t skipped a workout day in the whole two weeks I’ve been away from the blog. The result? I lost a pound over the holiday weekend! WOO HOO!

I hope your holiday was fantastic!
